Something that is usually apparent in teams that win the WS is great defense up the middle. We saw that with the Dodgers in 2020, Barnes ended up catching the last few games of the WS after the meltdown in game 4 and Seager and Bellinger played well up the middle.

In past years Trae Turner, Grandal & Smith (to a much lesser extent) have hurt the Dodgers defensively. I think in the postseason when everything is under a microscope a team’s defense up the middle becomes even more important. Obviously they still have the best roster in the league, but I see their defense up the middle as a potential issue come October and all of the recent news about Lux has made me think about it. Personally, I will take a light hitting SS to quell the defensive insecurity and I think this checks out w most championship teams. Thoughts?

Also I would love to discuss/ look at the defense of each past WS winner. They are usually very solid/plus defensively up the middle.

Ex: Astros: Maldonado, Díaz, Peña & Altuve, McCormick

Rangers: Heim, Seager & Semien (both solid not plus but rake) & Taveras

Braves: D’arnaud, Swanson & Albies, Duvall (solid not great)

Nats: Suzuki & Gomes, Turner & Asdrubal Cabrera (Turner not great, Cabrera super solid) & Robles.

TLDR; WS teams will usually have a light bat in an important defensive position. I would rather the Dodgers do this than play a great bay with a poor glove up the middle.
