The UAE is working to welcome and provide necessary treatment and healthcare for children from the Gaza Strip, as part of the directives from UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed. Flights began arriving on November 18, with subsequent flights bringing more children and their families to Abu Dhabi for medical care.

According to reports from the Emirates News Agency, among the 15 Palestinians who arrived seeking treatment in Abu Dhabi, some had evacuated from Gaza to Egypt via the Rafah border before reaching Abu Dhabi.

These flights transported children with the most severe injuries, requiring some seats to be removed to accommodate stretchers. Some children had bandages on their limbs, and while some traveled with parents or relatives, others undertook the journey alone.

These children, including those critically injured or battling cancer, constitute the first group seeking treatment in UAE hospitals. Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, after pledging treatment for 1,000 Palestinians, has plans for daily flights bringing Palestinians in need of medical assistance from the UAE.

This humanitarian initiative gains significance due to disruptions in Gaza’s sole cancer treatment hospital caused by Israeli airstrikes.
