In a speech to political leaders and business elites at the 2025 Davos World Economic Forum, U.S. President Donald Trump accused the European Union of treating his country, in his words, "very unfairly" and "very badly." He added that he would no longer accept the U.S. trade deficit with the 27-nation bloc. Before that, Trump also spoke of imposing tariffs on imports from Mexico, Canada and China.
