Sky News Business Editor Ross Greenwood has discussed the Albanese government’s $50 million bailout of Regional Express Airlines.

“The history of Rex goes back to the collapse of another airline, Ansett in March 2002, the treasurer at the time was Peter Costello, he did not step in and rescue Ansett,” Mr Greenwood said.

“Ansett owned two regional airlines, Hazelton and Kendall. These were merged to form Regional Express under the ownership of Singaporean Lim Kim Hai.”
