Analysis: What to possibly expect from the RBA’s first meeting of 2025
Independent analyst Evan Lucas has broken down expectations for the first Reserve Bank of Australia meeting for 2025.
Mr Lucas’ comments follow reported movement among banks ahead of the RBA’s anticipated gathering.
“What we need to remember and separate is that the RBA and its cash rate, and home loans … are two different things,” Mr Lucas told Sky News Australia.
“Fixed rate mortgages at Macquarie have been cut again – they are now the lowest level they have been since the end of 2022 at 5.55 per cent for one year.
“Fixed rate mortgages come with a caveat … we are about to go through a period where it’s not a question of if, it’s a question of when.”
