‘Elon doesn’t like one of those people’: Trump reacts to Musk’s criticism of AI project
US President Donald Trump has dismissed Elon Musk’s criticism of a $US500 billion AI investment project announced earlier this week.
The project, called Stargate, is a joint venture by OpenAI, SoftBank, and Oracle, expected to create over 100,000 US jobs.
Trump revealed the initiative on Tuesday at the White House, joined by SoftBank CEO Masayoshi Son, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, and Oracle Chairman Larry Ellison.
Musk claimed the backers "don’t actually have the money" for the project, sparking controversy.
"I don’t know if they do, but, you know, they’re putting up the money," Trump said on Thursday.
"The government is not putting up anything. They’re putting up money. They’re very rich people. So I hope they do. And I mean, Elon doesn’t like one of those people."
Musk, a close adviser to Trump, is a rival of Altman and is in an ongoing legal battle with OpenAI.
