New South Wales Premier Chris Minns is facing criticism from nurses after repeatedly misquoting the starting salary for first-year nurses.

In what has been described as a "deliberate effort" to mislead the public, the Premier claimed first-year nurses earn $90,000 a year.

It has since been revealed that their actual starting salary is approximately $72,000.

Members of the NSW Nurses and Midwives’ Association argue that the misstatement was an attempt to "discredit their cause”.
